Women's Equality Day 2024
“Wonderful Women Celebrating Together!”
Women's Equality Day commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, granting the right to vote to women. The amendment was first introduced in 1878. In 1971, the U.S. Congress designated August 26 as Women's Equality Day.
LWV-Greater Chippewa Valley has planned a rousing evening to celebrate Women’s Equality Day 2024. “Wonderful Women Celebrating Together!” will be held Wednesday, August 21, from 5-7 pm at Mona Lisa’s restaurant in Eau Claire. Women’s achievements, power, and energy will be shared through songs and a presentation on women’s health – all set in a woman-owned business and lead by local women. Dressing in period clothing is optional but welcome – dress in white, in a fun period hat and gloves, or just tap into your inner suffragist. Come to toast our accomplishments, to find support in facing our challenges, and to simply have fun.
Mona Lisa’s will provide a charcuterie-style selection of meats, cheeses, fruit, vegetables, and flatbread, plus lemonade, tea and water. Cost is $15/person (members and guests). Attendees can purchase their own beverages at the restaurant bar.
NOTE: Registration is now closed. To check to see if there is still room to attend, please contact Marilyn Hagen at marhagen@hotmail.com.
