Voting Guidelines and Options
Voting Guidelines:
Voters must be registered to vote
• You may register to vote at your polling place on Election Day
• You must be prepared to provide a Proof of Residence

 Voters who have moved
• Within Wisconsin less than 28 days before an election, must vote from their previous address, either by
            absentee ballet ot at the polling place
• Voters who have moved to Wisconsin from another state less than 28 days before an election are only eligible to
            vote in Presidential elections

 Voters must present a voter photo ID to receive a ballot. (Click Here)
• Voters who do not present acceptable voter photo ID may ask to cast a provisional ballot.
            The provisional ballot will be counted only if the voter presents the required photo ID to the Municipal Clerk by
            4 p.m. on the Friday after the election

Voters must sign or make their mark on the poll book to obtain a ballot before voting
• Voters who are unable to sign the poll book because of a disability are exempt from
this requirement

Voting Options:

  1. Absentee ballot
    • No reason is required to vote Absentee
    • You must be registered to vote to request and receive an Absentee ballot 
    • Request Absentee ballot via MyVote WI or submit a paper application form from the Wisconsin Elections Commission (available in English, Hmong, or Spanish. Absentee Ballot.  Click the link below to print a Wisconsin Absentee Ballot Request

    • Be prepared to upload your application on-line or provide a copy of your Photo ID, if submitting your application for an Absentee Ballot 
    • When you receive your ballot, read the instructions carefully and complete your ballot as directed 
    • Absentee ballots can be returned 
    by mail, but must arrive on or before Election day 
    by placing in a drop box, if available, or at Municipal clerk’s office
    by delivering it to the polls on Election day

  2. Voting Early (in-person Absentee Ballot) 
    • Check with your Municipal Clerk for early voting location and times
    • Bring an acceptable photo ID

  3. Vote on Election Day

• Only Vote once! It’s a felony to vote more than once.
