Guidelines to Register to Vote in Wisconsin

Register Online


To register to vote on-line, go to www.myvote.wi.gov.

You must have a current and valid WI Driver’s License, WI DOT-issued ID, or WI Learner’s Driver’s Permit.

This license or permit must have your current address to register on-line.

Register by Mail or In Person



To register in-person or by mail you must use a Voter Registration application, provided by the Wisconsin Elections Commission.  The Voter Registration Application (EL-131, 131H, 131S), is available in English, Hmong or Spanish. To download your application form click the link below:

Voter Registration Deadlines for Paper Forms

  • If mailing your registration form...

    must be postmarked on or before the 20th day before the election
  • If delivering your form in person...
     - hand deliver to your Municipal Clerk's office by 5p.m., the Friday before election day
  • If bringing your form to your poll location...

    may register on election day
Other Registration Guidelines
• If you do not have a WI Driver’s License, WI DOT-ID, or WI Learner’s Drivers Permit, you must use a paper Voter Registration Application. If you have a social security number you should be prepared to provide the last 4 digits.

• Proof of Residence: registrants must present or provide a Proof of Residence (when using a paper application)

Voter Re-registration
Voter re-registration is required if:
• you have moved since the last time you voted

• you have changed your name (since the last time you voted)
