Ensuring Eligible Wisconsinites in Jail Have Equal Access to Voting
Our democracy works best when everyone participates and throughout Wisconsin, an estimated 13,000 eligible voters in county jails have not been able to vote because of administrative hoops and hurdles. Wisconsin county sheriffs and jail administrators have the power to build policies and procedures to increase access for voters behind bars, and we have the power the advocate for these changes.
This is outlined in a recent report published by All Voting is Local, the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin and the ACLU of Wisconsin, titled "Ballots for All: Ensuring Eligible Wisconsinites in Jail Have Equal Access to Voting."
Join All Voting is Local, the League of Women Voters, and the ACLU of Wisconsin on July 13 at noon CST as we walk you through this updated jail-based voting report. During this conversation, the speakers will not only discuss the issue and go through the report findings, they will also review the extensive recommendations that will help voters in jail have their voices heard.
