Dunn County Board allows Healthcare Referendum on the Agenda
The Dunn County Board Legislative Committee unanimously approved that the referendum for a governmental nonprofit program for healthcare could be put on the agenda for its
July 27 meeting at 7 PM
at the
Dunn County Government Center.
It was very important that 16 people in favor of putting this referendum on the ballot attended the meeting and that many of those spoke in the public comment session at the beginning of the meeting.
It will be very important for those concerned about our current healthcare system to come to the July 27 meeting of the full Board to show their support for having their voices heard through this referendum below. No one should be bankrupted because of illness. We should be able to access healthcare that promotes a healthier population in our country. Our current corporate healthcare system promotes profits for special interests and wealthy investors.
Proposed Referendum for Dunn County on the Nov. 8, 2022, Ballot:
"Shall Congress and the President of the United States enact into law the creation of a publicly financed, non-profit, national health insurance program that would fully cover medical care costs for all Americans."
This ballot referendum question is not an expectation that the Dunn County Board can fix our broken health care system. The ballot referendum question represents the beginning of a conversation that should not be partisan. This is a conversation that we must have, that will educate and change how the health care debate is held.
If you are unable to attend the meetings, a phone call to your County Board representative would be helpful.
